“I Do” the Movie

Winning awards and taking names!! “I Do” the movie is continuing to gain traction in the festival circuit. I have high hopes for this one - especially for a film w/ such an important and wonderfully-timely message. In a world where Film and Television can have such a profound impact on the ways people think/experience/relate to situations and ideas, this film stands out as the most meaningful one I’ve been a part of yet.

Many months ago, I was fortunate enough to act in a film called “I Do.” Actors like Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Alicia Witt, David W. Ross, Maurice Compte, Jessica Tyler Brown, myself and others brought characters to life in an amazing story (written by David) about the effects of discrimination - not only on those involved, but on their families, friends, communities.

I couldn’t be more proud w/ the final product, and it was thrilling to see it on the big screen at the World Premiere less than 2 weeks ago. Kudos to Glenn Gaylord (Director), Stephen Israel (Producer) and the MANY others involved for telling such a necessary story.

Young Storytellers “Big Show”

I’ve been volunteering with an organization called the “Young Storytellers Foundation” for a few months now. The long & short of it is this: Mentors come to an elementary school once/week for 9 weeks and teach 5th graders how to write scripts. At the end of those 9 weeks, TV/Film actors come in and perform the scripts that these kids have created.

Many of these schools are victims of underfunded “Arts” programs, so events like this are really essential in exposing these youth to creativity outside of the classroom.

I’ve been lucky enough to mentor at one school (working w/ one specific student to develop a script) and act at another school (showing up for the Big Show to bring the scripts to life). Both experiences were amazing, and I’d encourage anyone that’s interested in getting involved to visit www.youngstorytellers.com.

New Blog Time!

This is a new blog - there are some rules to my reality…

1. This is a NoH8 Zone! (If you can’t handle that, I believe there’s a “Back” arrow you can click that will bring you back to wherever you were before. )
2. I love constructive criticism, but please make it “constructive.”
3. Speak or be spoken for.
4. In humor there is truth, in truth there is humor.
5. Peanut Butter fixes everything.

I choose RATIONALISM. What does this mean??
It’s quite simple actually. There are people today in this world that act out of Intolerance, Hatred, or just plain Ignorance. THAT SUCKS, let’s work on that…

(Copied and pasted w/ thoughts, Thanks Wikipedia)

Check It!!

Rationalism is “any view appealing to reason as a source of knowledge or justification”. In more technical terms, it is a method or a theory ”in which the criterion of the truth is not sensory but intellectual.”..

My Thoughts: Knowledge is Power. If people want to stand up and fight for what is right, they must first develop a knowledge of what is happening in the world.

Enlightenment or Age of Reason - …that sought to mobilize the power of reason, in order to reform society and advance knowledge. It promoted science and intellectual interchange and opposed superstition,[1] intolerance and abuses in church and state.

My Thoughts: I love God, not intolerance.

In politics, rationalism is a development of the Enlightenment that emphasizes a “politics of reason” centred upon support of the concepts of rational choice and utilitarianism; this has especially been promoted by liberalism.[1]
